英語類義語活用辞典の解説

communicativeとcommunicableの二つは「伝達可能」の意味を持ちますが、使い方には違いがあります。
 
communicativeはeasy to communicate（交流しやすい）ことで主として人の性質、またはそれを示す顔つきや雰囲気の形容に使います。
 
She has a communicative face.といえば、話しかけやすい顔（an open, sociable face）です。その反対はan incommunicative faceで、自分の殻に閉じこもった顔（a closed face）です。
 
My boss was incommunicative all morning but he was a bit relaxed in the afternoon.
（今朝部長はむっつりしていたが、午後には多少雰囲気が和らいでいた）
 
communicativeは単にsociableだけでなくtalkative（おしゃべり）の意味にもなります。
 
Don’t tell her this, she is far too communicative.
（彼女にこの話をするな。おしゃべりだから）
 
communicableの用法はcommunicable diseases（伝染病）にほぼ限られていて、infectious、contagiousの同義語です。
 
The control of communicable diseases by penicillin has saved millions of lives which would have been before the war.
（戦前なら伝染病で失われたであろう何百万もの命が、ペニシリンのおかげで救われた）
