hurryとhasteはどちらを使ってもよい場合もありますが、違いはあります。
 
hasteはhurryよりもカタい語で、口語ではhurryを使います。
 
Let’s hurry, we haven’t got time.
（急ごう、時間がない）
 
hasteを使うなら
 
Let’s make haste, there is little time.
 
となり、かなり古めかしい感じになります。
 
他動詞としてhasten「急がせる」を使う場合、「当然来るべき運命の到来を促進する」意味を持ちます。
 
This kind of fertilizer hastens the growth of the crops.
（このタイプの肥料は作物の成長を早める）
 
一方でhurryは単にスピードを上げることに使います。
 
The computer hurries the sorting of data.
（コンピューターでデータ分類が早くなる）
 
hasteは「向こう見ずに急ぐ」といった含みがあるのに対し、hurryは何らかの”タイムリミット”圧力を感じて急ぐことです。
 
Haste makes waste.
（慌てるとロクなことがない）

hurryもhasteも「急ぐ」とは無関係の用例があります。

このin a hurryは「二度と嫌だ」を意味します。
