英語類義語活用辞典の解説

この二つは相手に対して強い態度を示す点では同じですが、このような違いがあります。

claim
何かについて所有権を主張する行為そのものを指す。そして「その主張の真偽のほどはわからない」という含みがあります。
 
demand
所有権を主張した後で、相手がそれを認めてこちらの要求を満たすことを強く求める行為です。
 
以上のような特徴があるので、claimが常に先行し、demandがその後に続きます。
