healthyはあまり個性のない漠然とした語で、「病気でない」といった、ごく平凡な意味の健康状態を意味します。
The examination revealed him to be a perfectly healthy man.
（検査の結果、彼はすこぶる健康だった）
healthyは、また単に健康そうに見えることにも使います。
She has a healthy complexion.
（彼女は健康そうな顔いろをしている）
healthyはsoundより比喩的に用いられます。
健康かどうかは主観なので、発言者がその気になればhealthyを使うことができます。

soundの重点は、無傷であることで社会的価値としての健康です。

これはある映画で競走馬に高い値をつけた買い手が、その馬の脚に病気を発見して馬主に抗議した言葉です。
a sound horseは、a healthy looking horseなどではなく、ちゃんと医師の折り紙がついた、欠陥のない馬を指します。
His theory is sound.といえば、「彼の考えは世間の規準にかなって、ちゃんとしている」ことであり、社会的に通用するvalidな考え方です。
