この三つはパッとしない、つまらないといった意味を持ちますが、含意は微妙に違いがあります。
 
banalは味が水っぽく、刺激や旨味に乏しいことを指し、感覚的にいただけないという含みがあります。別語ではdrearyが近くなります。

triteも似た意味ですが、こちらは味の比喩ではなく猫も杓子も使うために新鮮味が無くなったことを意味しますが、banalのような否定的要素は少なめです。

mediocreも平凡の意ですが、上の二つと違ってmediocreは”比較して”が意識されています。何か優れたものを期待していたのに、実際には標準以下のものだった、というわけです。

(グルメだという評判の割には、彼女が出した夕食は平凡なものだった)
