代替エネルギーとして話題になっているバイオエタノールの英語での説明がジャパンタイムズウィークリー（07 6/23分）に載っていました。

Bioethanol is an alcohol made by fermenting organic matter, typically corn, sugar cane, wheat or rice straw, in a process similar to brewing beer.

バイオエタノールの生産は日本でも官民共同で力が入れられています。
今後環境に関するスピーチで出題されるかもしれません。
ちなみに私が所有している、ものすごく古いロングマン英々辞典（購入したのは何と1992年の11月です！）には bioethanol の項目はありません。
