biasとprejudiceはどちちも「偏見」といった訳が当てられますが、入れ替えできないケースがあります。

一方は人間が自然に持つ「選り好み」を表すからです。

英語類義語活用辞典の解説

biasは文字通り”斜線”のことで、cut the cloth on biasは「布地をバイアスに裁断する」ことで、ドレスメイキングで使われます。
 
一般にbiasには心の傾斜（inclinations）のことで、”one’s preferences”とも言います。preferenceはあるものを他より好むことであり、これは言い換えるとあるものは好まないことになります。
 
この選り好みを総称するとpreferencesと複数形になります。
 
つまりEveryone has his preferencesはEveryone has his biasと同じで「人間なら誰でも好き嫌いがある」を意味します。
 
biasは偏見には違いないですが、許されるべき偏見ということになります。
 
I should state my bias in this particular case.

これは裁判などに対し意見する時によく使われる文句ですが、公平であるべき裁判官が使う言葉ではありません。
 
公平でない裁判官に対しては
 
He is clearly biased.
（彼は明らかに偏っている）
 
などと批判されることになります。
 
an unbiased viewが求められるわけですが、これをan unprejudiced viewとは言いません。
 
prejudiceはhateの代名詞ともいえる語で、公に許容される性質の言葉ではないからです。上でも言及している「人間なら持っているpreferences」を超えているのです。
 
「人種偏見」はracial prejudiceでracial biasではありません。racial prejudiceはracial hatredと同義でありbiasのように肯定感情の表現には使われません。
