英語類義語活用辞典の解説
慣行的な道徳は ethic と単数形ですが、複数形の ethics となると moral philosophy（倫理）のことで学問の一部門になります。
また ethics は professional ethics（職業道徳）が守られる度合いのことも言います。
Lax municipal ethics is to be called into question.
（役人の道徳基準の低下を問題にすべきだ）
ethics が一定の社会内での道義なのに対し、morals は一般化した道徳、特に性道徳のことを言います。
「ふしだらな女」を a woman of loose morals とは言いますが、 a woman of loose ethics とは言いません。
moralsは普遍的な教訓の意にも使います。
You can draw morals from it.
（それから教訓が得られる）
A lot of morals are woven into this story.
（この物語は教訓に満ちている）
上の例のように morals は複数形の形どおり動詞も複数形をとります。ただし ethics の動詞は常に単数で受けます。
