英語類義語活用辞典の解説 ネガティブな含意や入れ替え
animal beast creatureの違いは、形容詞にするとはっきりします。
His animal agility and grace is a pleasure to watch.
（彼の動物的な素早い動きと優雅な身のこなしは見ていて心地よい）
The weather is beastly damp and cold.
（じめじめして寒い、ひどい天気だ）
Money can buy creature-comfort but not satisfaction.
（金があれば衣食住の快適さは得られるが満足感は得られない）
animalは「動物的」といってもおとしめる意味はありません。animal lust（動物的欲望）もあくまで中立な事実の描写になります。
animalはラテン語、フランス語のanimaが語源で、breath（息）やsoul（魂）を意味します。
animateは「生命を与えて活き活きさせる」ことで、animationもここから派生しています。
She was engaged in animated conversation with him.
（彼女は彼と会話を弾ませていた）
animalは中立ですが、beastは「ケダモノ」としていやしめる含みがあります。
He is a despicable beast
（あの男は人間じゃない）
a beastly weatherのように天候にも使います。
What a beast of a day this is, cold and rainy.
（寒いし雨だし、何てイヤな日なんだ）
ただし、次のような使い方もあります。
The shepherd is a fine beast.
（シェパードは素晴らしい動物だ）
creatureは人間を含む、生物全てを指しています。
She is a lovely creature.
（彼女は全く美しい生き物だ）
He is a dumb creature.
（彼は全くのおバカさんだ）
creatureはanimalとは交換できる場合がありますが、beastとは入れ替えできません。
creatureは造物主が作ったもので、自分の意思がない、もしくは意思があっても非常に単細胞的なものを表すことがあります。
「金儲け以外に関心がない」人をさして an economic creature（animal）といい、かつて日本人もこのように呼ばれた時代がありましたね。

beastには「イヤなやつ（もの）」という含みがあるのが、この解説でもわかりますね。
最近はスポーツなどで「獰猛なほど強い」という意味合いでbeastが使われることありますよね。
この場合は必ずしもネガティブな含みはなく、日本語で「鬼の強さ」という場合の「鬼」に近いのではないでしょうか。
